Ernest Solvay Fund 2026
The Ernest Solvay Fund 2026, is offering funding of up to €10,000 for non-commercial projects that support STEM education, environmental sustainability, or community wellbeing. Eligible projects may encourage young people to pursue science and technology, support biodiversity and energy transition, improve air or water quality, or strengthen the physical, psychosocial or financial security of communities near Solvay sites.
Eligible Solvay locations include: Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, China, Finland, France, Germany, Guatemala, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United States.
Action: Apply by 30 September 2026 for funding of up to €10,000.

Global Burden of Diarrheal Diseases
The Gates Foundation Grand Challenges is inviting proposals to estimate the global burden of diarrheal diseases, with a focus on mortality and morbidity in children under five in low- and middle-income countries. Funding of up to US$1.5 million is available for projects of up to two years, with LMIC-led partnerships encouraged.
Deadline: 16 June 2026, 11:30 am PDT.

ERC Grants for Non-European Researchers
The European Research Council (ERC) supports frontier research in Europe and welcomes applications from researchers of any nationality and age, as long as the research is carried out in an EU Member State or Associated Country.
Projects can run for up to five years and may cover any field, including science, social sciences, humanities and interdisciplinary research.
Researchers moving to Europe may apply for additional funding, with total funding of up to €3.5 million for Starting Grants, €4 million for Consolidator Grants, and €4.5 million for Advanced Grants.
Deadline: Depends on the specific ERC grant call.

Breakthrough Solutions and Cost-Disruptive Innovations for Screening and Diagnosis
Grand Challenges India is inviting proposals from India-based researchers developing low-cost, scalable innovations for infectious disease screening and diagnosis. Women-led organisations and women-led projects are especially encouraged.
Deadline: 1 July 2026, 1:30 am PDT.

Innovations in Cost-Disruptive Tools for Diagnosis and Screening
Grand Challenges South Africa is inviting proposals from South Africa-based researchers and innovators developing low-cost, scalable tools for diagnosis and screening in LMIC settings. Women-led teams and collaborations with historically black universities are strongly encouraged.
Deadline: 23 June 2026, 3:00 pm PDT.

Thrive Grant
The Thrive Grant supports non-profit organisations outside the United States working to accelerate alternatives to industrial animal agriculture, create plant-rich food systems, or increase access to nutritious plant-based foods.
Grants range from US$10,000 to US$30,000, with priority for organisations with budgets under US$500,000.
Deadline: 1 June 2026, with additional rounds on 1 September and 1 December.

Thrive Seed Grant
The Thrive Seed Grant supports individuals without non-profit status, new or small-scale organisations, one-time projects and conference sponsorships outside the United States. Grants of up to US$5,000 are available for initiatives that advance alternatives to industrial animal agriculture, plant-rich food systems, or access to nutritious plant-based foods.
Deadline: 1 June 2026, with additional rounds on 1 September and 1 December.

The webinar will share practical, evidence-based advice on how researchers can present their teaching and research expertise, respond to difficult questions, and communicate their value beyond the CV.

2026 Goldman Environmental Prize Winners
The Goldman Environmental Prize winners have been announced, and for the first time in history, every recipient is a woman. The 2026 winners include activists and community leaders from England, the United States, South Korea, Colombia, Papua New Guinea and Nigeria, working on issues such as climate law, Indigenous land protection, youth-led climate action, anti-fracking advocacy, mining accountability and rainforest conservation.
